Mother Teresa

Speaks Against Abortion

"Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching its people to love, but to use violence to get what they want. This is why the greatest destroyer of love and peace is abortion."(Mother Teresa)

Mother Teresa made this statement while addressing The National Prayer Breakfast in Washington D.C.,February 3, 1994. President Bill Clinton was in attendance, but as far as we can tell, made no comment on this part of the message from Mother Teresa.

Mother Teresa was born in 1910. When she was 18, she joined a religious order that sent her to India. A few years later, she began teaching in Calcutta. In 1948, Mother Teresa became an Indian citizen. She was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979. One great thing about her was that she went and lived with the poor and helped people who others would have nothing to do with. Mother Teresa was known as the "saint of the gutters" because she always helped the poor. Mother Teresa died in 1997.
